Product Overview

Protection and Colour in One Process

Anodizing converts the aluminium surface into a hard oxide layer that resists corrosion and wear, and it accepts dyes that give a durable colour without the risk of paint chipping. Because the appearance depends heavily on the alloy and the surface preparation, we agree a sample finish before production.

Zhigao is a manufacturer of anodizing serving customers in Europe, North America and Asia. Every order is produced to your drawing and inspected against your specification before shipment, with full documentation supplied.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between Type II and Type III anodizing?
Type II is a decorative and protective anodizing with a coating thickness of 5-25um, available in a wide range of colours. Type III, also called hard anodizing, produces a thicker 25-50um coating with hardness of 400-600 HV for wear resistance, and is available in a more limited colour range.
Can anodizing be used for electrical insulation?
Yes. The anodic oxide layer is electrically insulating. Where higher dielectric strength is required we can increase the coating thickness or combine it with an insulating pad.
How accurate is the colour matching?
We match against your sample or Pantone reference and always produce a pre-production sample for your approval, because anodized colour varies with alloy, surface preparation and coating thickness.
Will the part dimensions change?
Anodizing adds a thin oxide layer that grows both outward and inward, so the external dimension typically grows by around half the coating thickness. We allow for this on parts with tight tolerances.
What surface preparation do you recommend?
Brushing for a directional grain, sand blasting for a uniform matte appearance, or polishing for a bright reflective finish. The preparation chosen determines the final look more than the anodizing itself.
What is the lead time?
Standard anodizing is normally completed within 5-7 working days after the parts are ready, with colour approval taken into account.
