Inside Zhigao: Why One-Stop Aluminium Manufacturing Shortens Your Lead Time
From raw aluminium ingot to an anodized, inspection-ready heat sink, every step happens under one roof at our 12,000 m² facility in Dongguan. Here is what vertical integration actually means for your project schedule.
A heat sink that is extruded by one supplier, machined by a second, anodized by a third, and packed by a fourth spends most of its life sitting in a truck or waiting in a queue. Every handover adds transit time, adds a second set of incoming inspection requirements, and — most expensively — adds a place for responsibility to become unclear when tolerances drift.
At Dongguan Zhigao Industrial, we built the company specifically to eliminate those gaps.
One roof, twelve process steps
Our facility in Dalang Town, Dongguan covers 12,000 m² and houses more than 200 skilled staff operating over 300 pieces of production equipment. The workflow for a typical custom heat sink runs through a continuous chain:
- 1. Raw material sourcing — aluminium ingots and extrusion billets purchased directly from primary mills
- 2. Extrusion and die casting — profile extrusion plus our dedicated die casting division
- 3. CNC machining — vertical machining centers for cutting, facing, drilling and tapping
- 4. Multi-spindle drilling and tapping — high-volume hole patterns
- 5. Stamping and sheet metal — progressive dies, bending, and forming
- 6. Deburring and edge finishing
- 7. Surface preparation — sandblasting, brushing and polishing
- 8. Anodizing — a fully automatic anodizing line, including hard anodizing
- 9. Spray coating — automatic paint line plus a robotic powder coating cell
- 10. Laser marking and silkscreen printing — logos, part numbers and traceability marks
- 11. In-process and final inspection — under an ISO 9001 quality system
- 12. Packaging and export documentation
Because steps one through twelve are sequential inside one plant, a drawing revision does not restart a supply chain. It walks to the next workstation.
What this changes for a buyer
Three things change materially when you work with a vertically integrated aluminium manufacturer.
Lead time compresses. Tooling, machining and finishing no longer queue behind each other across three companies. For many projects we quote 3–7 days for samples and 45–60 days for bulk production — and those numbers hold because we control the bottleneck, rather than waiting on a partner to tell us where it is.
Cost becomes transparent. When a part moves between companies, each one adds margin and freight. Doing the extrusion, machining and finishing in-house removes those layers. That is the main reason our pricing stays competitive on projects that would otherwise be quoted as three separate line items.
Quality has one owner. We hold ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and IATF 16949. A single quality system covers the whole chain, so a dimensional issue traced to machining can be corrected and re-verified without a cross-company dispute.
Where it started
Zhigao grew out of Shengguan Hardware, a metal stamping workshop founded in Chang'an Town in 2004. We moved to Dalang in 2008, built our own factory buildings, and have been adding capability ever since — CNC in 2010, process automation in 2013, our die casting division Zhihong in 2019, and audio panel production from 2020.
That sequence matters. We did not buy a brochure full of capabilities. We added each process because a customer needed it and we were tired of subcontracting it.
What we do not do
To be clear about scope: we are a manufacturing partner, not a design house. We manufacture to your drawings and samples — OEM and build-to-print. If you arrive with a fully specified part, we are at our best.
